Screen damaged?

Hi!
Today i noticed something strange on my screen. When looking around it i see light where it supposed to black. It only shows on the top half of the screen, not on the bottom. See the attached picture. Is this normal or is something faulty? I have never dropped the watch or anything like that.

    Haha ;)

97 views and no one is able to tilt their watch and see if they have the same "crack"? Okay..
  • Not everyone that views this owns a vivoactive 3.
  • I have a Vivoactive 3, the black one.
    No "crack" visible here.

It's not normal your screen is broken so if you see there is crack in you screen and that is why you are seeing the black portion on that broken area.
  • Is the light showing in your picture the internal light from the watch showing through or is it a reflection? My dark-grey model has a few scratches on the bezel, but no internal light escapes. If it's the internal light I'd worry about the watertight integrity.

I'd telephone Garmin support. In my experience the people that answer are knowledgeable, helpful, and empowered to do the right thing.

  • Mine has same light escaping as on yours on exact same place. Did not notice until saw your photo and checked carefully few times. Never looked at such small angle before. I do not think it is damage. Though I have kicked the watch few times.
ps i swim once a week and it is water tight. The light escapes from under the glass, between the screen and black paint under the top glass. It is not a crack on glass. Do not worry, I think all is ok with both our watches.

That is the internal light showing. For me it looks like there is a black circle around the screen, and it kinda looks like it has "fallen down" in some places.
I will contact Garmin just incase.

That is interesting. I never noticed it myself either. I was thinking about selling the watch, so i was looking at it from different angles to see if there was any scratches or such, and then i noticed it. It kinda look like a crack, but at the same time the cracks are positioned the same way on both sides making it not look random. I will contact Garmin and see what they say.

Thanks for your replies and help guys!
