Notifications have suddenly stopped! Anyone else?

Hi,

This may be an often asked question but my Vivo3 had suddenly stopped buzzing my arm off with notifications about anything. I've not consciously changed anything and looking at my watch and phone (Samsung S7) Connect app, I appear to have everything ticked. Not sure if in the settings --> Notification Access I need to have Notification ticked (I have Connect Smart Notifications) ticked.

If anyone else has had this issue, what'd you do? This option is a lifesaver in meetings so would be good to have it back.

Many thanks

H
  • Try restarting the watch by pressing & holding the button until it restarts.
  • I often find restarting my phone (occasionally doing a hard restart) often does the trick. If not I shut the watch off and restart it.
I save the hard restart of the watch for last - as doing so usually leads to loss of steps to that point

    Good Morning All,

I've noticed a similar problem for the past 3 days. So all my notifications work fine, then I go to sleep and use "Do Not Disturb" during my sleep cycle. When I get up and my Fenix 5X switches off the Do Not Disturb function, my notifications are NOT being restored as they should be! The ONLY way I have been able to get them working again is the following:
    1. Restart my iPhone
    2. Turn Off/Restart my Fenix
    3. When the iPhone restarts, Start my Garmin Connect App
    4. Sync my Fenix and Connect App

At this point, the notifications will resume. I'm not sure if this is related to the new firmware (12) that I received or not, but it has only happened the last 3 nights, which leaves me to believe, it may be connected. Today, I turned off the Do Not Disturb function during sleep, which should (hopefully) prevent me from needing to go through all of this every morning. Hope this helps someone else.

    Any thoughts folks?

    R/S Gunny
  • You can clear the cache of the Connect App. This help in my case. On the Android phone: Settings - Apps - Connect Mobile - Memory - Clear Cache (or similar).
  • Sim-MH yes, on my phone it's Settings >> Apps >> Connect >> Storage >> CLEAR CACHE

I have the same issue  Phone = One Plus 6T Android 9,  Garmin connect  ver.4,23,1. Notification Stop working,

I  uninstalled  Garmin connect, and reinstalled from Google shop, and then  Notifications worked for ?? 1 Hour.

Problem is: Garmin Connect that should run in background  must terminate ?   the round Icon is not present in the  Notification bar on the phone, and  my Forrunner 235 say not connected on Blue Tooth.  If I manually open  Garmin Connect  the watch reconncet  and messages start working for a while.

Conclusion:  Garmin Connect terminates unexpected .

I had the same problem. All my permissions was given to the connect app and notifications was enabled on my vivoactive 3.

It was solved when I went to battery settings on my Huawei P30  -  App Launch  -  and switched the connect app to 'manage manually'. Also make sure that the connect app is allowed the run in the background. (settings - mobile network - data usage)

Now I receive all my notifications on my vivoactive 3 with no problems.... :)

I found the answer! In your settings, find the Garmin app and make sure it is allowed background activity and has no battery optimization turned on. This fixed the problem for me on vivoactive 4
