Is there a way to start activity recording without touching the screen?

I just upgraded Vivoactive HR to 3. In HR I was able to start activity recording by pressing a button three times. First press opens the list of activities (same in VA3), second press chooses the first activity on the list (can't seem to get this done with VA3) and third press starts the recording (same in VA3).

Is there a way to do this in VA3? Tried with short and long button presses, with only one activity favored and can't think of anything else.

I'm asking, cause it's winter over here and the clock is under clothing. With HR it was easy to start the activity through clothes. Now I have to get to the clock to touch the screen to select the activity. :confused:

Not on this way. You can enable in Settings --> Activity Tracking --> Auto Activity Start, it will start a walk or run activity if you do that for X minutes (which can be configured in the Connect Mobile app or the Connect web UI in watch settings).

Thanks for the reply. I had already found that while browsing the settings and it seems to work pretty well for walking and running, but sadly it doesn't seem to work on cycling.

The Move IQ recognizes cycling, but it only shows the activity on the days timeline and doesn't record the activity. This is the same way it was on VA HR.

I don't have any sensors on my commuter bike, but I could add a speed/cadence sensor, if that helps to automatically record a cycling activity. Does it? I don't want to buy a sensor only to realize it still doesn't work. :(

Unfortunately, there is not an auto activity start option for cycling. You will have to manually begin a cycling activity for the device to start recording. Connecting to sensors will also not begin the activity.

As a bike commuter in the cold weather, I definitely miss this feature from the Vivoactive HR!
