VA3 settings too easy to change

Now that it seems Garmin is watching these forums often (Welcome Garmin Kara!) can we please have the ability to increase the touch time to enter the settings menu? Most VA3 users can attest that its way too easy to accidentally enter the settings menu and change settings. Usually the watch face gets changed, etc.. Maybe even lock the settings menu but leave the other pages/widgets open. Is there a better way or link to make these request for developers to consider? Thanks.
  • Thank you for the welcome! I have passed along your feedback. However, this does not mean that the feature will be adjusted or changed. I will update this thread if our team does decide to make any changes to either the touchscreen time or screen lock feature. Thank you for your suggestions!
  • I agree something need to be adjusted to address the ease with which the Settings page is accessed!
It would be helpful to be able to just lock the Settings but otherwise leave the watch unlocked for everything else. I find the current screen lock useless as it currently exists!
  • I agree that this is my biggest problem with the VA3, but I don't think increasing the time to touch the screen is a good solution. I find the most likely scenario to cause settings to change for me is water on the screen (wearing the watch in the shower), and that can easily stay on for a while without you realising. I think a better solution would be to either allow setting to be locked with some method that requires the physical push button to unlock... or simply require that all the time... so to enter settings you press screen and then a message on screen comes up saying "Press button to enter settings" and that disappears by itself after 3 seconds (so the normal time comes back up)
  • Yep

During my run yesterday my jacket sleeve opened the settings menu and set my max HR alarm to 108bpm.

    Not cool.

That's a good idea! Anything is better then the current setup. I can say my number one complaint with this device. Another option is to move the settings menu to the long button press menu as an icon. In any case, its good to see Garmin listening to their customers.
  • On the va3 there is the side swipe of the case, which can be disabled in Settings>System. Some of the changeling you see could be due to that, so you can try turning it off. Moving from the watchface to a widget for example.

Yep, putting settings into the long button press menu would be a great solution. Really anything requiring a button press to change settings would be great. At the moment you do it entirely with the touch screen which is the problem.
