Garmin Express doesn't see Vivoactive 3 (5.50) in Windows 10

Windows 10 makes the sound when I connect the Vivoactive 3 via USB, it correctly shows up in Windows Explorer.
But Garmin Express says "Not Connected", and when I hit sync it keeps saying "Searching for device..." ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1426791.jpg

One thing to check if this after you upgraded the VA3 to v5.50 is that Garmin Express is up to date (settings cog/about) as the older versions (anything prior to V6.9.1.0) stopped being able to see the watch for me.

Exact same issue for me 2 years later. My express is v 7.3.1.0. My watch has the latest software updates. I can see and copy my settings file in windows explorer from E:\GARMIN\APPS where E is My Garmin Vivoactive 3. Uninstalling Garmin Express and then reinstalling with the garmin connected, fixed it for me.
