Speed and pace displayed when running

When running I have speed or pace displayed in my vivoactive in addition to distance and time but at what interval is that value refreshed?
I.e. does it show my speed at last 5 seconds, last 30 seconds, last lap (1 km) or what? And is there a way to set that interval in settings?

Garmin doesn't tell and there isn't a configuration option to change it. I think this is the hardest data to compute from a GPS based signal and it could even change from version to version. I've noticed that the interval used isn't even the same when you are increasing you pace than when you're getting slower.

Good news is there are data fields in the Connect IQ Store doing exacty what you are asking: Allowing to select the period to compute the current pace
