v5.50 update

Just updated and Galileo support not showing up also no mention of battery life improvement in the update.

****Update****
After doing a second synced to Garmin Express GPS was updated and now finally the GPS+Galileo showed up.

****Still****
I observed that the Bluetooth connection with the phone is Misbehaving (connect/disconnects) from time to time after updating to v5.50.

Same here. Maybe we have to wait for a gps update to follow?
  • on my VA3 it was a two step process. GPS update had to be done seperately,,,
  • It took several subsequent synchronizations and manual restarts but it still showed GPS 0.00 - even after the watch had confirmed a GPS update.
Finally took it outside and started a Run and let it sync to GPS afterwards under settings for that activity I was able to change to GPS + Galileo both for Run but also Walk.
Subsequently checked the Software versions and it finally showed GPS 2.3
  • For info, on the VA3M, it took 2 Sync via Garmin Express to get the GPS updated.

    - 1st update: installed the new firmware
    - Disconnect, the watch restart and install the firmware
    - reconnect to GE and Sync again
    - Disconnect the watch now install the GPS update

    GPS v 2.30 on VA3M too.

Try to reconnect your watch one more time to GARMIN EXPRESS after updating the software, the GPS version should update next.

    hmm ok just did.
that's interesting that it went from 4.40 back to 2.30.
  • 4.40 to 2.x is normal when devices get a version of GPS with Galileo. Same on the 645, fenix5, and frnix5+ devices.

I'm sorry, but in my opinion this version number is not normal, sounds to some level of disorganization.
Despite the excellent new support to Galileo (not talking about it), it is the first time that I see that a new version of a software is lower than the previous one.
At least concerning other software companies...
  • But that's the way it is. As I said, same thing on other devices when they got Galileo support, as is the "double install", with getting the main FW first, and the new GPS second.
