Updated to 5.50 24 hours ago and the difference to battery life is massive. Battery life for my VA3 had always been good up until SW Version 5.40 - that absolutely killed it and I was lucky to get 48 from a full charge with no activities. 5.50 has resolved this and in the 24 hours since I fully charged my battery is still at 85% - back to normal!

Yes thats true. Battery life is back to normal (so far)... i still feel the stairs are not upto the mark..i will check for another few days and update here :)
I opened Garmin Express and was told there was an update available. I already have ver 5.40. I Connected my VA3, and it syncronized, but no update. It says: Checked for update, you are on the latest version. Version 5.40. We outside APAC probably have to wait.

probably affects only APAC? on 5.4 ROW firmware.. after 48hrs with no activity... has dropped about 26%.
For those who got battery life fixed by 5.50, congrats... And did you guys have battery problem since 5.20 or only from 5.40??
Saddly not for me... I have Chinese version VA3, and my battery life dropped to barely a day since updated to 5.20. The 5.40 did not fix the issue and I am now on the long waited 5.50 which officially stated as battery life fixed. However, I am still getting 3% drop per hour. It is improved a bit from 5.20, it was 5-6% per hour...
I tried many things: restart, hard reset, factory reset, etc. I also tried disabling some features one by one and they do not seem to affect battery life significantly. Nothing seems to work.
I have had the same issue with 5.20. Also counting stairs didn't work anymore since 5.20. I really hope that's fixed as well. Didn't receive the update 5.50 either. I'm in Europe.
Also very bad that the helpdesk here in the Netherlands didn't call me back again...
I'm in Switzerland and still only have 5.40. I sent our local-ish Garmin people a message a week ago and still haven't heard anything in regards to the battery life on my VA3. It's often less than 8 hours at this point. It would be fantastic if 5.50 actually fixed whatever is wrong with the VA3. When I first started using it, battery life was a couple of days, even when using it for tracking.
