+! for me too. Seems like an issue with the latest software update. All of my Connect IQ downloaded watch faces show as "IQ!" in the watch face selection menu and won't work. If I deinstall…
Thanks! Rebooting worked for me as well but still hope that Garmin people will pick this topic up --> having to reboot your watch every now and then is not really normal...
Just power of and switch back on again
It works
To me it seems that the problem is not with the watch faces or the firmware per se, but rather the way widgets address memory when getting a GPS lock since firmware 6.90. I've done a lot of testing, with a dozen watch faces and even more widgets. Only when I use third party widgets which use GPS data do the watch faces crash. Garmin's own widgets, even those from the IQ Market, are OK. Also when third party widgets use stored GPS data from an activity everything is ok. The moment any third party widget gets a GPS fix, I get the infamous IQ! error. So I think something changed in firmware 6.90, and the developers haven't updated their widgets. Please remember that the developers have to keep a large number of firmwares in mind, not just the one for the VA3. These errors might also not appear in the emulator. It's up to Garmin to publicise any change in the firmware.
I'd suspect something in this direction as well. But simply adding here that in my case even Garmin's own watch face from IQ market didn't work...
Btw, possibly not related but with the software update to 6.90 my step counter started misbehaving as well (counting about 2-3 times fewer steps in normal mode, everything's fine when starting a walking/running/.. activity). I suspect something around power saving there but haven't yet got the chance to start looking for any solutions..
Sure, Garmin watch faces also get corrupted if a third party widget isn't optimised. But Garmin widgets play ball with all watch faces.
Thanks for pointing out the step counter issue! I thought I was getting lazy...
Ok, here's what I've found so far: the IQ update didn't do much. Widgets which take their location info from activities are OK, provided you have recent GPS data. Widgets which make a GPS lock at startup crash the watch faces. Garmin widgets are ok.
Just Power Of Your watch And Switch it back On
