I ended up turning the watch around so the button is on the left (on my left hand). I found this greatly reduced the instance of accidentally scrolling quickly with the touch sensitive side of the watch which is what I have found to cause the IQ! Error.

I have this problem also and had to reboot. Would be great if one day Garmin Engineering actually hired people to test their software instead of relying on customers. Great hardware, but they don't seem to give a hoot about quality software.
All, the solution is to install Garmin Express and do the steps required to upgrade the watch. That solved it for me.
This issue is still happening but a restart has fixed it. I had no idea what was going on
