improved sleep tracking / no getting REM sleep

So historically I don't wear my VA3 at night, other than occasionally to observe the sleep tracking. Guessing about a month back after one of the updates, the sleep tracking seemed to have improved detail including REM sleep now showing (besides awake, light, and deep). But for the past week or so, every time I have worn the watch at night to observe the sleep readout the next morning - REM sleep no longer appears. My wife was a VivoSport and her watch seems to show the improved sleep tracking including REM.

I might note that I am a very light sleeper, usually only getting about 5 hours of sleep a night - most light with several 'awake' bands showing commonly (my cat can take credit for most of those).
Any chance the watch is still tracking REM, just that I am not getting any? But if so, I would think I would still see a readout saying REM zero.

What are the rest of you now seeing, of those who track sleep?

are your sleep hours set correctly in the app? I noticed that I was only getting 1-1.25 hours of "sleep" a night, but then looked at the app and saw that I forgot to change my sleep hours since I'm working nights right now

My dad, who is older, takes naps on top of 8 hours a night is typically only recorded as having 2 hours of sleep. He is just a restless sleeper, and the amount of movement you have in the night dictates the sleep detection. The same is with my wife, who runs marathons in her sleep due to a pinched nerve in her back making her legs tingly. Not fun. She has given up tracking her sleep.

To respond to the posts following my original, my sleep hours are correct and VA3 does correctly track sleep over this period.

But my issue is on my app, the sleep info display seems to look like it did prior to recent updates (that is, there is no statement or recognition specifically of REM sleep duration) rather than the updated and improved sleep info I at one point had seen - and as matches what my wife's VivoSport shows.

    Software is up to date.

Are others still seeing REM reported?
  • Yes, I see REM every night reported
