I just got my vivoactive 3 a week ago to replace my ageing pebble time, and so far so good, but there are a few things that I sorely miss and have no idea whether I haven’t discovered them or they are unavailable. If they are unavailable, I wish there was a way to oitch them to Garmin, but the feature/idea page submission page seems inactive.
1) On watch sleep widget. I’ve always had issues sleeping and one of the main reasons I’ve been hunting for a long battery smartwatch is not needing to charge every or bi-nightly and keep track of my sleeping pattern and quality. The pebble was good, in that I’d wake up, pop in the shower and look through the sleep data as I am taking a shower sans phone and app. I wish sleep was either a data stream in “my day” that you can drill into or a separate widget. Is there any other way to bring sleep data to the phone through a third party widget or app? Looked through the store, but couldn’t find one.
2) Initiate message from watch. Another feature, which is much overlooked until you actually need it is the ability to send a message to a) prdefined favorite contacs or b) by scrolling through your phone contacs, since the GC app has access to the phone contact list anyway. Laugh at me if you want to, but I always imagined a scenario where I can’t reach my phone for some reason, but I still have my watch and can send someone a txt asking for help.
I guess this is also the place to rant about read notifications disappearing rather than marked as read and be still available under the notifications widgte.
3) Contact name on incoming call - this one befuddles me the most as incoming calls are shown as the number they are coming from and not with the name of the contact calling me. Not sure if this is by design, if I am not doind something right or something else, but it’s very strange, since txt and other notifications come through with contact name as recorded in my phone
4) Watch system font size - this is me nitpicking, but I do feel that, especially for notifications, the font used can be reduced by a point or two and the weight changed to a lighter/thinner typeface. I believe this would allow some flexibility in presentation, fit more text within a single screen before needing to scroll through and improve readability.
Are all these unavailable features, something I haven’t discovered yet or things people dont care about? Is there an official way to present those ideas to Garmin, like Spotify does with upvotes for requested features?
Oh, yeah, for the record, I am using a Galaxy S8 with android 8.0
