Does Wifi work for anyone?

Just got a Vivoactive 3 Music, updated the firmware to the latest, and haven't been able to get the Wifi to work at all.

It's able to see the networks just fine, but when it tries to actually connect, I'm seeing a 'Connection Failed'.

I've tried three different router types:

1) Apple Airport Extreme
2) D-Link
3) Apple iPhone 8 in Personal Hotspot Mode

I've also tried with and without WPA password protection. Unfortunately neither is working.

I have a 645 Music and the Wifi works okay, so I don't think there's anything wrong with my setup (e.g. multi-path interference etc).

Hi! I have the same issue and cannot find any more information about this. Did you manage to get it fixed? If yes, please do share? I realise that your post is 2 years old...

  • I don't think it's been fixed in the watch software. My watch still won't connect to the Genexis router.

I used to believe it was a TKIP thing -- the watch was much better with AES encryption -- but I now have a mesh WiFi system using TKIP and the watch is fine with it.  It just seems to work better with some WiFi systems than others.

If you can change the encryption type of your WiFi, go for AES rather than TKIP and things might improve.

Hello, I know this is an old thread but I am currently having this issue with my vivoactive 3

  • Garmin's Wifi servers appear to be having issues at the moment. Both my VA3 and my Fenix 6 are having odd issues syncing via Wifi. Wait a day or two and I'm sure it'll start working again.
