Does Wifi work for anyone?

Just got a Vivoactive 3 Music, updated the firmware to the latest, and haven't been able to get the Wifi to work at all.

It's able to see the networks just fine, but when it tries to actually connect, I'm seeing a 'Connection Failed'.

I've tried three different router types:

1) Apple Airport Extreme
2) D-Link
3) Apple iPhone 8 in Personal Hotspot Mode

I've also tried with and without WPA password protection. Unfortunately neither is working.

I have a 645 Music and the Wifi works okay, so I don't think there's anything wrong with my setup (e.g. multi-path interference etc).

Watch updated to firmware 3.10 and now reports it can't connect to WiFi "error code 0700"
  • Guess I’ll throw in too. Just got my VA3M two days ago. Tried connecting to my D-Link router that everything else connects to just fine. At first I got a “connection failed” message then after a software update on Garmin Express it changed to “Incorrect Password”. WTF? Hope I get added to the broadcast email when they fix it.
  • Two month follow-up: Still no Wi-Fi

In the 2 months I've owned the device, I haven't gotten the Wi-Fi to work once, and I've tried a bunch of different router types.

I've been meaning to return the device due to faulty hardware, but I've been holding out hope that each firmware bump will fix the issue. At this point I've lost all hope/confidence. Going to try to return it; hopefully Garmin accepts it.

Have been generally happy with Garmin products in the past, but this has been an incredibly disappointing experience all around. Best of luck to those trying to stick it out!
  • I'm having issues as well. I think it is related to my home router though. At work I can view networks. At home, I get the message that no No Wi-Fi Networks Found.

    Hi,

I just got my VA3M and Wifi is also not working. It gives me an error code 200. I have the latest FW installed.
If I hit the test connection button in the Garmin connect app the watch says it can connect to the network, but trying from the watch results in a connection error code 200 as already mentionet.

    Should I return the watch?

I see Deezer is out, but not for us because we cannot use wifi. So I bought the VA3M but only got VA3 for now.
I aslo tested Wifi on the Company network I got the same error as at home. I Would like to know if this is a SW or HW issue on VA3M, because if it is a HW issue I am bringing it back.

    Garmin, anyone?

I am also having same issue. I'm not able to connect to Wi-fi. This VA3M was replaced. The earlier one was able to connect to Wifi, it was running on 2.7 version. The new one is updated to 3.1.
  • Update: I was finally able to get the Vivoactive 3 m to connect to my Apple Airport Extreme router.

There's a huge caveat though, I had to completely disable encryption.

I guess this means the WPA2 handshaking in the firmware is incorrectly implemented; strange since it works on the 645m. I wonder how different their driver stacks are between the two devices...

It started working for me yesterday. Earlier I had added wifi settings using Garmin Express app from my PC. That time it was not working. Then yesterday I used my Android phone and tried verify connection and it worked. Since then it is working for me. My wifi is configured for WPA2.
  • With the latest FW 3.30, Deezer has been fixed and my watch Sync the music over Wifi so I guess it works for me...
I didn't notice any issue on Wifi so far.
