Vivo Active 3 Music

is ist released? any experience on that new watch?
  • Just got mine yesterday. I'm coming from a Forerunner 620 I've had for years. The heart rate strap no longer connects to the watch no matter what I do (new battery, new strap, reboot watch, factor default watch...). I thought about five years of tech like a running watch might be a good reason to buy new.

I bought mainly for the glass face with no bezel. I, personally, like the look.

Steep learning curve. Steeeeep. Very steeeeep.

Mainly use it for interval running (knee surgery - have to ramp up slowly) and will now try the strength training section to keep me from 'over-resting' between sets.

More, later, if all would like.

Great you got an VA3M... Can you let us know if the Altimeter/elevation/altitude works ? (go for a loop hike/walk and check the altitude at your start/end point, it should be more or less the same...
The VA3M has the barometric holes on the side, rather than underneath as for the VA3, and I am keen to know if it makes any differences....

I'll go for my first run tomorrow. I'm in Houston, so no great elevation changes inside the city, but I'll do my best. Was planing to run in the park, but the bayou has more 'elevation'. I'll change it up tomorrow and see if it registers.

Do I need to turn it on or is it on by default?

Greetings. I just asked Garmin using the chat function on their website. The response given regarding the use of the gyroscope (available on the Vivoactive 3 Music but not on the Vivoactive 3) is as follows:

The gyroscope is used for assisting the GPS helping with knowing the direction a person is traveling for a more accurate directional GPS reading

For my use of such a watch (for runs in known places), this doesn't sound very important. But perhaps it would be for someone else. I hope this helps....

Full glass and no bezel = no way I'll buy it. I may just be a clod but I had an Apple watch. After a month I clipped the watch on the edge of a doorway and cracked the glass. $300 to repair. Went into the dumpster instead. I won't but a watch without a bezel since then. Might work ok for you more graceful types. But not for me.

Probably case and screen protector will help. I'm thinking of trying TPU ones because silicone case on my VAHR and Fenix 3 are too rubbery and attract lint.

Apple watch needs a full body armor kinda case. It's too glassy.

I scratched my Samsung frontier on the kitchen cabinet stone, and bezel got scratched but saved the glass screen. It's bulky to have a case but better than shattered glass . I got a TPU case for my Sammy watch and looks sleek, and not rubbery . After shower or swim, I can take it off for a minute to dry and works like a charm .definitely worth it .
