Vivoactive 3 with Polar H10 for swimming

Hi,

I don't have a VA3 but am currently looking into possibly buying one. I would really like to be able to track my heart rate while swimming, and as I already have a Polar H10 which I have been using for recording my HR when swimming. I saw an earlier post where someone has said they have paired it with the VA3, but I imagine that is just pairing in normal when running/exercising, I'd specifically like to know if there is any way it can use the H10 to record HR information when swimming?

I know it probably wouldn't be possible to transmit the data while swimming due to Bluetooth transmission not working in water, but given that the H10 can store data to be transferred after a workout, I was hoping that it may be possible to use the Vivoactive 3 to start the tracking on the H10, with the VA3 then tracking the swimming details (length, strokes, etc.) and then at the end have it download the HR data from the H10 to incorporate the HR info into the recorded details.

Any idea if that is possible?

I've seen that the Fenix 5 can do it with the HRM-Tri or HRM-Swim, but the Fenix 5 is out of my price point, and would also mean buying another HRM making it even more expensive than it is on its own.

Just like your Polar H10, the HRM-Swim and Tri also stores HR data and then is transferred following the workout to specific Garmin watches. The VA3 isn't one of them. You'd need a FR235, FR735, FR935 or a Fenix series watch to do so. I don't know if your Polar strap is compatible with any of those watches.
