No - it seems to have been removed - unless I've not found it, that's a serious omission. My watch now shows an elevation of 84 ft when it should be 41 ft. The ambient pressure reading seems to be ok so it would seem to be the conversion that's been screwed up, with no option to correct it :-(
Too bad. While I was praising Garming marketing for this watch (and cursing engineering) - looks like bad marketing managed to trickle down (from 645) here. Since I new hight of my house down to centimetre - was able calibrate altitude to exact one. Now we as those users of 645 - have to rely on GPS, which is know to be not so precise.
And yes, I know - it is relative elevation during exercise that matters, not absolute height, yet it is pity to loose that ability to have absolute precise height.
I've done a full factory reset & now I'm getting an altitude of -125.7 ft. with no option to recalibrate it. Someone at Garmin has lost the plot !
The 5.00 update for the vivoactive 3 removed the option to manually calibrate the altimeter. This was done for multiple reasons, the main one being the previous calibration methods were allowing for multiple scenarios that end in a bad calibration value. In addition to removing the manual calibration method, we have updated the automatic calibration method with more checks in place to help increase our accuracy. We understand the frustration this change will cause for some and apologize for this.
