Much higher stress scores after May update

After the last firmware update I noticed that my stress scores are 30 pts higher and there are no rest periods. Thing is my lifestyle has not changed and I don't feel that much stressed. Is this happening to others too ? Contacted Garmin and they suggest I soft reset the device. Did not correct the problem.
  • Which FW update are you referring to as «the May update»?

As far as I can see there hasn`t been any FW updates for the VA3 since the 3.50 version released on 04-04-2018.
  • Yes I've noticed it too. The stress values are pretty much nonsense for me at this point

I'm using firmware 3.50 but I've noticed the higher stress scores only in the past few weeks.
Ok I'll try a factory reset and see if things improve.

Stress scores used to be fairly accurate before the 2.70 firmware. Ever since, it's been terrible. Judging by the stress scores, I should probably have been dead by now.

Haven't tried a factory reset by the way. I will, but the setup process on the Vivoactive is terrible. Why on earth isn't it possible to make a good backup of all your setting, watch faces, apps etc? It's 2018!
  • Hi jewbie,
Judging by your last post, you have a really high level of stress :)
Back to the topic - I can only add that now I have a stress level of about 70 and after an excellent steak I am absolutely calm - like a boa constrictor :). I tried to do breathing exercises, after them I always have a higher stress level. So what...

I use Elite HR app for HRV with a wahoo tickerx. Works very well and is completely accurate.

Is that from the Connect IQ store? Cant find Elite HR app there. I’d love a solution to this - I’ve only had my watch avweek, I loved the stress monitor.... till it went AWOL after 3 days

OK, 3 days after factory reset, problem corrected ( so far ).
  • How long did you measure stress before the update? I'm afraid that deleting the old data, you just deleted the calibration. Although, may be, the pulse calculation algorithm was changed in the new version and the old data only spoiled the result. OK. it will be seen in a couple of weeks. By the way - the current version of the stress meter by Firstbeat is 5.3.3.11 now.

The Elite app is completely separate from the Vivoactive, then?

factory reset means redoing the setup and repeating all the customisation I’d done on my downloaded watch faces. What a pain. Especially when the stress number shot up again after 12 hours. Incidentally.... immediately after doing a timed run. I’m planning a run tomorrow..... so I guess if I did a factory reset now I would find out if that was a coincidence or not.
