sudden problem with counting stairs, and also weather

1. Is anyone else experiencing a recent problem counting stairs? I upgraded the firmware some time ago, so that is not recent. However, the past two days I have had nearly 20 floors counted, which is not anywhere close to accurate. I have gotten stairs while walking down a flat hallway, and also while standing still. I am super frustrated!

2. Does weather work on your watch? This is actually not a recent issue. It works for me maybe 10% of the time. I have an iPhone 8. Randomly I can see the weather on my watch, but most of the time, I cannot.
  • Same here with steps. I live on 6th floor, always use the stairs, somethime it register 4 or 5 floors, but most of the times zero.

Accurate here and no problems with weather.
  • Having the same issue here, with counting steps. Today I've climbed over 500 stairs and 80 meter, and my Vivoactive 3 told me, I've climbed 6 floors instead of 26.

    Apparently it's -7 outside. Nope, it's a warm 23 (Celsius)
  • Might be worth giving it a wash (instructions in the manual) as the hole for the barometer (under the button on the back) is quite small and if blocked (including by your skin if watch is too tight) can mess up the reading.

You could also try manually setting the altitude at a known level and see if that helps.
Not sure how regularly (if at all) the watch calibrates itself if you don't activate a GPS activity for a height reading so if it's been a while since starting an activity that could theoretical be an issue.

Thank you for the suggestions, Sciber. I tried ALL of them, and I also did the software update, and I am still getting far too many flights of stairs. 20+ some days. :(
  • I have the opposite issue. I haven't gotten a single flight since the beginning of the month.

On May 27, my watch stopped counting floors and the elevation display went crazy despite numerous manual calibrations. One minute it would say I was at 35,000 feet and then at -35,000 feet. I chatted with support for over an hour and tried resetting the watch, updating software, synching to my phone, to my computer, etc. After all of that, my altimeter just said "0" and I was not able to manually calibrate the watch. When I tried, it just said "0" when I was done. Support told me that a software update was coming soon and should fix the problem. Now, this morning, after a software update, I discover that I can no longer manually calibrate the altimeter (the function no longer exists under settings and sensors) and it is telling me my current elevation is -35,416 even though I am on the 8th floor of a building. In addition, I discovered that my phone no longer shows "floors" even for days before May 27 when all of my problems started. I keep thinking the altimeter is broken, but it sounds like something to do with the software given that others are having similar problems.
    * has anyone else lost the floors display on their mobile app?
*has anyone else lost their history of floors climbed/descended?
*does anyone else have an altimeter reading that is just crazy?

I live in a single story home, pretty much don't have stairs most places I go and I regularly get about 6 flights of stairs a day just walking around.
