Charging differences - recommendations?

Hi,

depending on power source I find different charging behaviour of my VA3:
a) USB port PC: Loading with background cake diagramm. Loading stops after 100% is loaded - no sudden drop in battery charge observed
b) power bank: watch showing top line with loading status and stops loading very early after reaching 100%- this variant leads to a 10% drop in battery charge within the first hour using the watch - without any app running. Here power bank electronic seems to stop power flow automatically (protection?) I assume VA3 not fully loaded.
c) power plug adapter (5V/500mA): loading status in top line of watch - after 2 hours still loading with tiny power flow (0,01A), display shows still loading at 100%. This gives best battery life with VA3 ever - no sudden battery drop! But is this really good for VA3?

What is your experience or has anyone recommendation to offer?

Thanks!
  • I had a power drop of about 5% not matter how I charged. The only fix seemed to be to take it off charge and then reconnect, I would then get the full 100% power. It did my head in so I contacted Garmin and they advised me to send it back for a replacement, unfortunately this exhibited the same issue.

I got rid and got a different Garmin watch that doesn't have an issue recharging from any source.
  • Many portable battery packs turn off when the amount of current being drawn becomes very low. It may be that the watch trickle-charges the last bit and your power bank is shutting off before charging is complete.
