Vivoactive3. What a piece of junk

Going back to the Vivoactive HR, the Vivoactive3 as it stands now is useless. Nothing seems to work 100% , the floors climbed, the sleep tracking, the calorie calculation, the sensor connection, etc etc........Nothing seems to be near accurate. And Garmin does nothing to improve as usual. Think they busy with all the new products .
I feel i have been a BETA tester long enough.
  • Why do you bother reply in such a tread ? It’s not about what i like better, but who work ok. And yes, i use the VAHR, and it feels like a upgrade. So sorry for my crying , but maybe it’s about time somebody does. And yes, i will take the loss , not a big deal with that money.

I think there may be a little more to the altimeter issues than just the port location. Some have said it works when taken off and placed on handlebars. My wife does cardio 4-5 days a week and sweats excessively. She doesn't have these crazy drops in elevation that others are seeing. My 935 has a strange port location. It's on the bottom side edge. It's in a location where sweat and water easily cover the ports, but I don't have any issues either. Moving the port location on the VA3M is suspicious, but not necessarily a silent admission of a previous design fault.

indianwin2001 Now you're starting to sound like me. :) If it was due to the port location, how does one explain people like you and my wife that don't have this problem. The ports on the 645 are on the side, yet there's a altimeter issue post that currently has 149 comments.
  • Forerunner 645 and ex Va3 owner here and no issues with elevation at all.
If something isn't working I would always go straight to Garmin, the forums should be for more trivial issues or questions.
Garmin have always been great in the UK they will usually offer to replace for most things.

And i am pretty sure you are wrong. People report better accurancy when use it for bicycle and mout it on the handlebar. Is it very difficult to imagine that when you run or walk and sweating, this position is not good. After all, that port is there for something, and what will happen when it’s blocked ? What do you think ?

Taking off the watch and placing it on handlebars didn't work. See thread "Please fix elevation". Many have reported no problems with their VA3's and many have reported problems with elevation with watches that have ports on the side. See 645 forum. Is it possible you have clogged ports due to soap, lotion, or even built up sweat and debris? It's possible that something may have permanently damaged the seals? My wife and I make it a point to rinse our watches thoroughly on a daily basis. No problems and the VA3 was purchased in Sept '17. Maybe the port location isn't the sole reason for problems. Have you tried running warm water (with low pressure) over the ports?
  • I concur with @TMK and the others. Try reaching out to Garmin support and opening a ticket. I have one open on the elevation issue and they are going to exchange my watch for another. I have the declining elevation issue but I also have had mine since November of last year so maybe there's been some improvements in the newer builds. In any case, I love the VA3 (more so since they fixed the sensor issues in 5.00). I'm sure the designers thought about the bottom port placements when they engineered the watch. All you need is a hair amount of room for air to get in them to register on those ports. Now if your ports are blocked with gunk or whatever that's another story. As stated above try warm water in those ports (they interconnect) to see if anything comes out. Run warm water in one port, and water should come out the other.

TMK17, if a refund was that easy for Asian users, we would not spend time on a forum like this (we spend time to work hard and work out, not spend time to gain a Tittle on a forum). Customers defrauding should be punished. Hope some lawyers owning Garmin devices would consider a lawsuit.
  • Yes , a problem there , i have always ordered my Garmin devices from U.S.A to avoid any apac version.

What are you talking about? When did I tell you or anyone in this thread to get a refund? Or that it would be easy? It's great the Asian community works hard. Did someone suggest otherwise? Gain a title? Customers defrauding? What are these customers doing that you consider fraud? Should these lawyers consider lawsuits on Garmin or the customers committing fraud? You appear to be confusing me with someone else, because I don't have a clue as to what you're talking about.
