Vivoactive track navigation

Hello,

I have got a new Garmin VIVOACTIVE 3.

I cannot find a way to copy a GPX file to the device and to follow the track (just dot by dot, on a blank screen, without maps).

I tried to use DWMAP, but i cannot install the app - apparently, my Garmin is not up to date, however Garmin tells me that firmware 3.5 is uptodate.

Can somebody help?

I would really like to find a way to copy tracks to the device and follow them.... without buying a fenix 5....

Thanks!

Hello Gigi131313, DWmap does the trick for me.
First you will have to download the app on the watch.
Second you will need a (free) account at https://dynamic.watch/me.
Third link your device to your account (on the website)

I use connect.garmin.com for creating routes and importing GPX files.
Make sure you make the routes public available.
the URL from the route in garmin connect can be copy pasted using the import function at https://dynamic.watch/me.
select the active route on the website
At last start the DWmap app on your watch and select refresh.

    It should work.

When you subscribe for a payed account then you also have tunr by turn and background maps on your watch (requires your smartphone to be connected 3G/4G)

Note: It does drain your battery in about 5 to 6 hours.
  • Thank you rvanenk for the helpful response.

Gigi131313 Connect IQ is the best way to get this functionality as the vivoactive 3 does not have native support for courses.
