Alergic to watch band

Is anyone else finding that they are alergic to the watch band? I get welts on my wrist and have to change the watch from arm to arm. I went looking for a black leather band but it appears Garmin doesn't make one for the Vivoactive 3.
  • You can use practically any standard 3rd party 20mm quick release bands with the VA3.

Personally I bought a leather one from Barton Watch Bands that I'm very happy with. ( www.bartonwatchbands.com or amazon)

For excersising I got a KADES Soft Silicon Band from Amazon which I'm also quite happy with. Much more breathable than the originial one! ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0785GJZZX/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )

I am having the same issue with the watch band.
  • I'm not sure if it is allergic. It seems to me, rather the standard strap of the watch is too close to the skin and does not allow it to breathe - bad designe. I ordered myself one of Milanese and one silicone with holes as mentioned above SAHO - I carry it now all the time without probs. I would have mentioned too thin springbar pins on the strap. The original ones are 2 mm thick and their total length is 22.75 mm. In Chinese band - 1.5mm and length of 22.15mm - not very reliable. I had to buy a pair of 1.8 mm thick at ebay - ideal for a silicone strap.

    ???

What does that mean? Will your new straps be further from your skin?
  • Hi TMK17,
maybe I'm inaccurately expressed - the standard strap is pressed too tightly to the hand - it sticks to the skin - it breaks the sweat drainage, the skin of the hand remains moist and easily rubbed ... New - see the photo SAHO's second link - is perforated and leaves the skin dry - this is the difference.

No problem with mine. I only take it off to shower - no rash, no problems with "sweat drainage" whatever that is. My skin gets moist, but the band doesn't rub it raw or cause a rash. I am sure some may be allergic, but I would not say there is any issue with design. All other fitness devices i have had are very similar.
  • I had the same issue - Some clear nail varnish on the metal parts that touch the skin helped me.
  • Purchased a black leather band from Amazon, cost me $20 delivered. My skin is fine now and I can wear the watch 24x7.

Not sure if it's the band or as globa_local said about the sweat being trapped but mine is only located under the actual device and not the band.
