I was having a problem with incoming calls not showing on my VA3 so I restarted by holding the button in until the screen went black. I had synced with Garmin Connect before restarting and had 5038 steps, after restarting my steps had reverted to 0 but I still had the 5038 on connect. After my VA3 synced next I lost the 5038 steps that I already had and connect reverted to the steps I had accumulated on the watch after the restart Has anyone else had this happen? I had previously had my VA3 revert to 0 after a restart but my steps were saved on connect so at the end of the day connect was correct and what showed on the watch was only from the restart until midnight then everything was back to normal and the same on both watch and connect.
Just for fun I did a restart on mine after reading this. I can confirm that I have lost all of my accumulated steps as well. That has never happened before so I'm guessing that it is possibly a bug in the new firmware.
A restart (long button press, tap power, confirm) will not result in lost steps. A reboot (button press and hold until screen goes black) has resulted in lost steps since 2.90.
What confuses me is why Garmin can't get Connect to sync the steps back to the watch. I used Fitbit for many years, this was never an issue with Fitbit.
This morning my va3 froze at around 6 am, it was 7 am when I noticed it. Restarted it and time synced back up, steps still registered. Rebooted it figuring if I lost steps, it wouldn't be many. Much to my surprise, my steps were still there. Rebooted again, and steps remained. This is on 3.50 firmware.
Does your intensity minutes got reset to zero as well? I am having the same problem since day 1 and i do not think it has anything to do with the new software because the old software gave me the same problem. I wrote in to Garmin support and i was told that steps, floor will get reset when the watch is being reboot. However, intensity minutes are NOT supposed to be zero because it goes by weekly. When my intensity minute is zero, my Garmin connect app still record the correct intensity minutes. Any intensity minutes accumulated after that is being added correctly to the app but not to the watch. Therefore, there will be a discrepancy between VA3 and the garmin connect app. It is very annoying. Garmin is still in the midst of troubleshooting with me
Rebooted my va3 this afternoon and lost all day's accomplishments on the watch. If you value your data, only reboot when you're not at risk of losing much.
jaclynteoh I didn't pay attention before, sorry. Intensity minutes for Monday remain, today's intensity minutes were deleted from the watch.
The same thing just happened to me and the funny thing is that the steps before the restart still show up in the Step Details on the daily summery. Why can't they just implement two-way sync?
