Hello guys Which is the magic solution to make Windows recognize VA3, and connect to Garmin Express? I've tried to plug-unplug quickly several times, and nothing... Thanks
I've seen this video before. It didn't work. I have an official garmin wall charger. When I connect the watch to this, it appear the amount (in percent) of charge in the watch. Most of times, when I connect to the computer, another "picture" appears in the watch, different from that using wall charger. These times, when Garmin Express didn't recognize the watch, it seems that Windows also don't. The watch only receives the energy, but don't enter in the comunication mode. Is there another way to make this goes on? Thanks again
Hello, I called Garmin support. But I have heard that they aren't very efficient... SD you know if firmware updates are available through connect mobile, via Bluetooth?
Another update (and maybe a help request!!). Something is making my Windows 10 lose the driver, everytime I turn computer off. Everytime I reconnect my watch to recharge, I have to reinstall the driver. Does anyone have seen this before? Thanks again!
I also had an issue with the Garmin driver. I had a BSOD everytime my VA was plugged into my PC and it tried to auto-detect it. After each BSOD, I would have to setup all my devices again from scratch. It sounds like something like that is happening to you also (but without the BSOD). However, if I plugged it in during a reboot of my PC, it worked fine. I ended up spending a lot of time on the phone with a Garmin developer who explained a few things:
Once installed, the Garmin driver does nothing more than identify which Garmin device is connected in an xml file..
Other than that, Garmin devices depend 100% on Microsoft USB drivers for everything else.
In my case, what we ended up doing was a chkdsk on my VA from another PC. That solved the problem (mostly). It still will create a BSOD from time-to-time but rarely now.
I know however that my PC has problems because it will not update to the Creators Edition properly and some program installs don't work properly unless I reboot first. As SUSSAMB says, it has to be your PC because the Garmin driver actually does very little.
