Battery life

I’ve had my Vivoactive 3 for two months now and at first the battery life was 4-5 days but with latest updates I’m lucky to get forty eight hours. That’s without any activity tracking the watch just monitoring h/r, steps etc. I hope this issue with future updates will prolong the battery life. I guess I’m not the only one getting this short battery life issues?
  • I haven't worn mine much, well not at all really, since my 645 came in last week but seeing complaints after 3.40 update I did a full charge last Saturday and have been keeping an eye on the rate it's discharging.

Like I said it was charged last Saturday evening and right now on Friday morning and it's at 28%. Granted it's been sitting on the dresser the whole time so the HRM hasn't been in use and there's been no activities performed with it, GPS or otherwise. But the screen has been on and BT active and connected whenever my phone is in range.
  • I've had the same issue, was 4 or 5 days, now less than one day. New firmware, restarts and a reset have done nothing to resolve it. I'm running 100% Vanilla with no separate Connect IQ apps or watch faces. I know other people at work who have returned their VA3 for this fault. I'm going to raise with Garmin support and see what they say.
  • Same issue. I have to charge at least every 2nd day. It goes through 2-3% battery every hour. Right now, the negative is outweighing the positive on this thing.
  • I do not have the same experience. I've been getting 5-6 days of battery life on average with multiple activities recorded per charge.

I also don't have a problem, unless I charge my VA3 from my laptop, which has always been problematic. For me, the battery life improved enormously with the 3.4 release. I record exercise for at least an hour every day, usually with GPS, and I'm getting 4-6 days.

I'm not denying that there's a problem but, from what I read on these forums, the problem has an very uneven distribution, and that distribution seems to change with every firmware release.

I have similar experiences as LarsTheBear when using laptop USB for charging. For me charging works if I don't just take the cable off from USB but disconnect USB device for safe removal first. Hard to remember but maybe worth trying. Or then just use normal phone charger for charging

I have a similar experience. Battery life was better pre 3.4 firmware. I always have bluetooth off and run the stock watch face. My current battery drain is around 0.7%/hr . It used to be 0.5%/hr.

I have similar issues after every charge via the mains.

    1. Charge to 100%, then battery starts to drain at around 5% per hour.
    2. Plug watch back in and start to recharge.
    3. Power off/on whilst recharging.
    4. Watch usually then reverts back to draining around 0.7% per hour once fully recharged.

Very annoying and time consuming to do a simple procedure.

  • I raised my battery life issues with support and the unit has to go back to be replaced.
