hungrykid I'm confused by what you're saying. The FR610 was released in April 2011 and you say it's latest update was 4 years after it's release. The Edge 510 was released around (not certain) January 2013. You state it's last update was in January 2017, four years after it's release and 18 months after the release of the Edge 520. So, based on your own experience with Garmin products that have had successor devices and continued updates, why would you say a successor to the VA3 would be "the end for the Vivoactive 3 in terms of the updates" when you yourself have experienced otherwise? If the VA3 followed the same update trend of the two products you mentioned, it's final update would be in September, 2021. A far cry from the "end".

My FR610 received its last and maybe final update last March of 2015, and my Edge 510 also received its last update last Jan 2017 (of course after several updates released since i got both), what do you think the reason my Edge 510 bricked after it was updated? and Garmin support that time was unable to explain the reason why and instead offer me a refurb device or add $$$ for the 520 in exchanged of the 510.

Anyway, i am just wondering why it took a while to resolve the VA3 issues, since i already returned 3 VA3's for the same problems and also about to return my current VA3 again for another replacement (Bluetooth/Ant+ Disconnections and HR Droputs) and this issues are really consistent specially while doing an activity and also not to mention the random rebooting.

And as i mentioned if "indeed" rumors are true about a new model coming up, its about time to fix this rather than let the VA3 users wait and wait until an update to solved these issues will be release? because if you browse all the issues its all the same.

I have no idea what caused your 510 to brick. You're not suggesting it was intentional because of the new 520? Did all 510's brick after that update? My VA3 bricked right after the New Year. Prior to that, I was one of the fortunate people posting that I wasn't having any problems. Sometimes it just happens. I agree the VA3 list a lot of problems, but not across the board. My wife's has no problems, nor does my replacement I gave my son. In time, I'm sure the VA3 will become more stable for most. Starting a VA3 with music, if the rumors are true, won't prevent this.

Well, you are lucky your VA3's didnt have much problems compared to the majority.. as for my experience its 4 out of 4 VA3's all have the same consistent problems, i just hope the coming 5th replacement will have less issues and see what Garmin has to offer to resolved if not all the problems of the VA3 befor they launched the VA3 Music if the rumors are true.

I don't believe I was lucky, nor in the majority. Yes, the VA3 has some issues. Forums for the most part are to find solutions to problems. I obviously don't have exact numbers, but if you were to take the number of VA3's sold worldwide and the number of post about issues, the percentage of problem watches would be quite small. Even if you factor in those with issues that don't use the forums, you'd most likely have the same ratio of problem free devices that also don't use the forums. If it were even close to the majority, you'd find independent websites with that information and lawsuits for a recall. Going through 4 watches in a possible 8 month span suggest there might be a problem with where the watches you've had are manufactured and sold, or possibly any IQ apps you've used that may be producing the same issue. Anyway, best of luck with the next one. You've already displayed more patience with the VA3 than most would have dealt with.
