Auto update apps is for IQ applications. When a FW update is pushed to your watch you are asked if you want to install it. You don't have to do so. I would always wait at least a week before I installed FW updates on my 235 because there seemed to be a lot of issues like the VA3 is having now. At one point my 235 was working fine for me and I had my watch 3 FW updates behind.
You're correct. My wife just downloaded 3.30 and it automatically installed also. I'm always asked if I want to install any FW updates on my 235 and 935. I just assumed the VA3 would be the same. Bad info on my part.
I think if you open Garmin Express, settings, schedule and then select "never" that may have something to do with it. It should put any FW updates on the device and then prompt you if you want to install. This is what I had to do for my devices and it should be the same for the VA3. My wife's was set to "always" on her computer.
I don’t use GARMIN Express. I use the Garmin Connect App for iOS and this App get the Update in the Background and push it to the VA3. And if you do nothing, the update on the VA3 start without any question.
It looks that FW updates are pushed in VA3, I have autoupdates off buth doesn´t matter...........I would like what will happen if a FW update is pushed while I am in middle of a marathon or if the battery of my VA3 is so low......Garmin what you are doing with VA3 it is completely unacceptable :mad::mad::mad:
"Auto Update apps" is for CIQ apps, and not the firmware.
On the vivos, FW update always gets pushed to the device, as for support reasons they want you on the latest FW. If they didn't do that, and you were reporting a bug, the first thing they'd have you do is update the FW.
It might be okay if they were not messing up basic QA on the firmware on each release. It's obvious they did zero QA on non-English devices and no significant bugs were solved with this release.
