Last night my VA3 woke me in the middle of the night with a vibration alert informing me that a new software update was downloaded. This happened even though I had turned on „do not disturb“. Does anyone know of a way how to turn off vibration alerts only for software updates or how to disable automatic software updates altogether? I would still like to use the vibration alerts but not if I can‘t prevent the VA3 from waking me up in the middle of the night.
I feel the VA3 sleep settings are so problematic, so frustrating, and shouldn't be hard to fix. If the watch is set on DND, you shouldn't get software alerts. I get a "move!" alert every weekend b/c I sleep past my 5:00am weekday wake time. The watch will count me as sleeping, but then buzz at me to move. And, I plugged my watch in to charge in the middle of the night this week (got up to use the restroom, and just took it off and plugged it in.) So now, I have a 5 hr "deep sleep" period that is messing up my averages. Surely, someone at Garmin can write some code that stipulates, "if watch is plugged in to wall and there is no heartbeat, the person is not attached to the watch!" Really frustrating.
I contacted Garmin support and got the information that vibration when receiving software updates is not blocked by DND since it is not a „normal type of alert“. That is messed up, since Garmin will wake me up at night when they decide to push out a new software version since automatic software updates cannot be stopped either as far as I know. Garmin support recommended turning off bluetooth on the VA3 at night but I now turned off vibration completely. In my opinion Garmin should fix this.
