New firmware today?

It appears that my watch is downloading new firmware, but there is no mention of a new version on this forum. I was running 2.9. Out of the blue, I now see a gear icon with a down arrow indicating it is downloading something. It won't respond to the garmin connect app at this time so I guess it is downloading and applying firmware. Anyone else see this today?

*** UPDATE***

It did not download new firmware. After it completed downloading whatever it was downloading, it is still running version 2.9.

Any ideas what was going on? Again, the icon was a gear icon with a down arrow and a progress bar at the bottom.

It was an update to the "Time zone map" and that happens a few times a year and goes to garmin devices that use GPS to set the time. You don't see this mentioned in About, but will with Garmin Express before it's installed. For FW updates, you'll see a message on the screen like "version.x.yz was installed on your device" .

I suppose there could be a message for the time zone map too, but iinstalling t won't really impact anything on the watch.

Version 3.30 available.
If not seen in over the air (OTA) updates, try Garmin Express. Thanks to Peter de Decker for the tip.

Anyone download 3.30 yet? Still not seeing it on GE or OTA. If you did, what sensor hub and other versions does it show?

Connect IQ 2.4.1

SW version was 2.90, now 3.30, but I cannot find anything about it online.

Mine has just done the same then when finished displayed the message - Time Zone software was updated!

Not sure what this means??

About twice a year, the time zone data gets updated on all garmin devices with GPS (including car systems). It's used to to adjust the time based on location, including for things like DST dates that can vary year to year. In Garmin Express you can see what's changed but it happens that this time there were no changes in dates, etc:
