it it possible to show on the watch only notifications for calendar events not not emails? with few hundred email notifications per day (that i mostly dont care about) its quite disturbing
Same here, tons of emails and there is a very good way to do it via the outlook mobile app.
I use Outlook all the time and have it on my phone for several email accounts (Microsoft email accounts and others). In the Outlook app, this is the precise purpose of the "Focused" vs "Other" Inbox. Even better, in the Outlook app's setting, You can choose if you want to receive notification for "Focused inbox only" or "all emails". This way, I only get notification for emails that matter (focused inbox)
The Focused inbox will only display the most important emails (for me from my family, some friends and colleagues) whereas the "other" will display the less important emails (newsletters, advertising etc). The sorting happens automatically and the AI learns over time what's important for you or not. BUT you can also tweak it manually with a long press on an email (to select it) and use the 3 dotted menu (top right corner) to "move to Focus inbox (when in Other) or "move to Other Inbox" (when in Focus Inbox). By teaching the Outlook apps what's important and less important, you will get a cleaner "Focused inbox". The next time you receive an email from the sender, it will put it in the right place automatically.
I initially spent some time cleaning/teaching my "Focused inbox", by "moving to other" all emails not important. It will take some time initially (if you've never done it before), but the rewards down the line are great... Even better, the teaching you do on the AI via the outlook mobile app will also be applied to all the other way you access your email account (Outlook PC app, online, iPad outlook app, etc).
This way, I only get the notifications (on my VA3 and Phone, PC, etc) on emails that matter... for the rest, I check it from time to time and clean it (with swiping gestures on the outlook app for delete/archiving).
Well worth the effort of "teaching" what's important (Focused) and what's not (Other) This is a great feature of the Outlook email client app. This works very well for me. Give it a go and get less distracted by less important emails' notifications.
Ok, not an ideal solution, but perhaps you can try to turn off the outlook notifications (in GCM) and use the native calendar app for your calendar notifications on the VA3.
I "Sync" my Outlook calendar with google calendar for the sole purpose of using the Garmin Calendar Widget on the VA3. I currently have all the google notification off on GCM (as I receive them from outlook) but perhaps that would work for you:
Outlook -> GCM all notification OFF Outlook Calendar -> Sync with Google Calendar -> Google calendar app Notification ON in GCM (benefit of having the Calendar widget on the watch)
To "Sync" I've added my 3 outlook calendars URL to my google calendar online.(I don't use google except when I really need to!) The biggest issue with this is that Google only polls non-google calendars once every 24 hrs... hence changes in outlook calendar are not replicated immediately. As a workaround, I created a Calendar Sync "Flow" (office365) to push new outlook calendars events to google calendar whenever a new one is created in outlook.
