Do not disturb mode enabled on phone. Why does the watch vibrate and turn display on?

On my android phone I often use do not disturb mode, so when I receive a call display doesn't turn on, phone doesn't ring or vibrate, every event is totally silent. I was expecting the watch to act in the same manner with dnd mode enabled but unfortunately it doesn't because with dnd mode the watch regularly vibrates and turns light on. This is a nonsense, if not a bug. We should at least be able to set the behavior of the watch with dnd mode: if the watch can act regularly on calls and notifications or if it has to silent vibrations and/or also to keep light off.
What do you think Garmin? Do you at least read our posts?
  • The DND feature if your phone doesn't control the same function on the watch. You can add the watch DND to the controls menu of the watch so that all you have to do to enable it is hold down the button and select it.

As far as the forum goes, although sometimes Garmin folks read and chime in, it's a user forum and if you have a specific feature request there's a form on the support page for that.

    You have few combination:

DND active on phone and not active on watch -> you will be interrupted only by watch, I am using this option, I can read status on watch during meeting and my phone is silent
DND active on phone and active on watch -> you will not be interrupt by both of devices
DND not active on phone and not active on watch -> you will be interrupted by both of devices
DND not active on phone and active on watch -> you will be interrupted only by phone

I think that this options for setting are the best, is on you what you want to set. I like it.
  • I'd better like if the watch would automatically silent calls and notifications basing on dnd setting of the phone, not manually. There are several situations. For example my dnd mode on phone is set to silent every call except few specific numbers, so I'd like the watch to notify me accordingly. Atm we can only set dnd on watch manually and for every event, no exception.
    My suggestion is:
    1) to notify basing automatically on the behavior of the phone
    2) to add the option to choose the behavior in dnd mode, display and vibration behavior.

DnD is an automatic option for the VA3 you just need to set it up in Connect. For the Android version (don't know if Apple is different) there are two areas to set.

In Settings > User Settings you can set your Sleep Times

In Garmin Devices > VA3 > Device Settings > Notifications and Alerts you can set Do Not Disturb to During Sleep.

Then between your designated Bed and Wake times no vibration or screen on for alerts.
  • The watch knows when I'm asleep as I can see it in the sleep charts. Why does it turn dnd back off if I'm sleeping in on the weekends? Similarly it wakes me if I choose to get an early night

  • The sleep settings don’t disable notifications. I know this because I have sleep settings set and my watch still buzzes in the middle of the night every.damned.time I forget to turn off Bluetooth before bed. I have insomnia and it’s devastating.

  • My Fenix 6 automatically goes into DND mode during my set sleep time... Even if I get up early it doesn't recognise I'm now awake and I have to turn it of manually. I'd like the option to recognise if I'm awake... It would even just ask me if it's withing an hour of my set wake time and I could just confirm it.

  • I think it also makes sense to have DnD mode controlled by the phone. I want to be able to set my DnD to only allow my "Starred Contacts" to buzz me. That way I hear my wife calling if she is stranded on her way home from work and not the telemarketers that don't honor normal bed times.

  • Four years on and Garmin still haven't fixed this? I see this as a bug.
