Hello all, I am new to the forum and to the wearable activity tracking devices. I purchased a Vivoactive 3 yesterday for tracking activity like steps, HR, and my workouts.
One thing to keep in mind is there's a bit of a learning curve if you're new to Garmin. Even if you had a different tracker, you may see things that look different, numbers that aren't quite what you expect, etc.
One example is steps. Some vendors seem to over-count them (it makes it easier to meet your goal!), but Garmin tries to filter out "bonus steps" when it can.
Things like the move bar and how it works will be new too. (if you're new you may not know you are seeing a move bar on the side of a watchface, etc, much less what the 5 segments mean). And some things you may not see in the manual (it depends on when it was last updated). With the move bar, how it's displayed can also vary by watchface, and often done differently in CIQ watch faces.
Connect IQ adds a different bit when it comes to loading watch faces, data fields, etc, and there are things like how to use a DF in an activity.
Simple answer, find what works for you and if you have a question, just ask! :)
First make sure you are using the latest version of the software on your phone/PC/wrist Then make sure you have configured all your personal parameters. Go for a run outside (if possible) of about 15 to 20 mins while using the Run app to Calibrate it (not required but nice to have) On the Phone App or on the Web create a set of workout routines that you usually stick to and also create spare workouts with a single excessive for machines/equipment you use often in the gym. Delete/Unfavorite the apps that you are likely to never use, i don't know if that will save on space, but it definitely makes it easy to navigate. Check out the Connect IQ store, and see if there is anything you would like to add to your device. If you see anything you don't like on he device, or there is something you need an explanation for, come back to the forums and ask questions...as Jim said, there is a learning curve.
