Heart rate connection keeps dropping out when connected to Garmin Edge 520

This is an essential feature of the watch and the connection is so buggy I have reverted to my old HR monitor. Please see the attached photo ad note the 3 'flat lines' where the HR dropped out 3 times on one ride!! Please Fix ASAP,

Yep they screwed it up when they released FW2.70 it was ok in 2.60 and this was nearly 2 months ago that update came out. Frankly mine is going back at the end of this month if they don't fix it... The only way they will pull there finger out and actually release a tested product is if we all send back for full refund! Power to the people.....

I’m experiencing same but without connection to any edge model, just connected to speed sensor.
Both heart rate and connection to speed sensor drop periodically throughout the workout - usually at the same time. See attached pic from my session tonight
really poor and needs fixed ASAP. ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1294737.png
  • Hi,
I'm experiencing the exact same thing.
I broadcast my HR from the watch and it continually drops out, until I stop broadcasting and start broadcasting again - then it only last for a few minutes again and I have to repeat the process.
    It is soooo frustrating.
This is happening on my Garmin Edge 510 as well as when I use Zwift (indoor cycling). It is exactly the same issue.
I've posted a screenshot of this morning when riding in Zwift - it is exactly the same on my Garmin Edge.

I have also noticed that the bluetooth connection to my phone seems to drop in and out quite a lot also, but no idea if it is a related issue.

    Please fix ASAP.

I have experinced the same thing, only with my speed sensor on my bike trainer, I have never once lost it in 2 yrs on my edge 1000.
  • There definitely is some conflict between the wrist-based HRM and some ANT+ devices (speed and cadence sensors from my experience). When I use my trainer and wear my chest HRM, everything stays connected just fine. However, when I use the wrist HRM, the HR freezes regularly and connection with cadence and speed sensors drop. I am really hoping that FW 3.0 fixes this by the time spring comes.

Same issue with the Edge 1000:
When broadcasting HR from the Vivoactive 3 to de Edge 1000 the connection gets lost after approximately 10 minutes.
Stopping and starting the broadcast is needed to setup the connection again :(
When 'broadcasting in activity' the same problem occurs. Both devices are running the latest software (Vivoactive 3 runs on 2.9, Edge 1000 runs on 14.60).

Issue with broadcasting HR to Garmin 520 Edge. Worked flawlessly with Vivoactive HR. With Vivoactive 3, it works for a few minutes and then loses connection. Edge 520 SW 12.50 Vivoactive 3 SW 2.90 Have tried Broadcast only and broadcast in activity in conjunction with Broadcast. Seems like a lot of people are experiencing this in your Garmin forums....

After installing firmware 3.3 on de Vivoactive 3 the problem (losing connection between Vivoactive 3 and Edge 1000) seems to be solved.
