Vivoactive 3 won't connect to garmin connect

Hello,
I just received my vivoactive 3, and the watch does not connect to garmin connect on my phone (android).
The watch is recognized by the phone (it's in the list of bluetooth devices) but then it does not connect, it is stuck on the pairing screen.

any ideas ?

The key issue is that you need to tell the phone's Bluetooth to forget the device before you re-pair using the app

what the guy above said, try rebooting.
today i had a weird issue, where i would lose bluetooth connection every 10mins.
rebooted the watch...twice...didnt solve anything.
rebooted the phone, and was finally ok.

I had the same issue on mine out of the box. I had previously installed the Garmin mobile app before i got the watch. I called Garmin support and they had me try with Garmin Express, which worked. They then had me delete and re-install the mobile app and that fixed it. Have you tried re-installing the mobile app?

I had this problem today, really struggled to re-pair having been disconnected from the app. In the end I found what worked was unpairing from the phones bluetooth, opening the app and re-pairing via settings on the watch. Hold down on the time to activate menu, scroll down to settings, then 'phone', and pair from there.

For some bizarre reason I have to remove the device from Garmin Express to get my garmin Edge to be the default calculator for VO2max during a workout. I usually pair the watch and the Android phone after immediately but today although the watch was getting recognised in 'Add Device', it then stuck on the start of the phone pairing screen also. Rebooting the phone and watched seemed to allow it to progress through the pairing sequence.
