Is the watch affected by soap and other cleaning things?
Example - hand soap during hand wash
and shampoo during shower?

I easely get eczemia? from my fitbit charge 2 on my left arm and on the right arm I have the vivoactive 3. Once a week or so I wash booth watches with hand soap and with hand desinfection (I work at a hospital) that I think will reduce my red rashes, eczemia?. No problem yet with the watches.

  • I've had no issues with the bands in the past on other vivoactive devices. However the salt from my sweat would eventually eat through the little band holder. I hope they resolved this on the VA3.
  • i think its not about strap which is replaceable but about the HR sensor that can get cracks after a while if not cleaned on regular bases. Often times people just basically never take the watch off besides charging, so all the sweat(salt) and other stuff can eventually cause these cracks i seen them on many fenix 3,5 or fr235 devices so no reason V3 should be different. I suggest to wash the sensor on the watch everyday with clear warm water just to prevent possible future damage. I am not saying it will happen, but i just wanna make sure it doesnt.

I wear my VA3 in the shower, as well as my FR235 for 2 years, and body wash doesn't affect it. I just make sure it's rinsed well. Stay clear of harsh cleaners and most hand sanitizers that contain alcohol. A FR235 user was using the hand sanitizer and the alcohol damaged his HR sensor.

Update: Manual says to avoid chemical cleaners, solvents and insect repellent. Also says to rinse well after contact with chlorine, salt water, sunscreen, cosmetics and alcohol.
  • For the past 2 months, I shower with the watch on every day and no issue with body wash products. I also rinse and wash the back of the watch and my skin where the HR is on a regular basis. no skin issue, no watch issue, all like new
  • In fact, it's not as hard as it sounds. If you're referring to smartwatches or fitness bracelets, you have to avoid the temptation to resort to household chemicals. A friend of mine once wiped with lye and his watch turned into a piece of garbage, it was pity... I didn`t do such experiments. You have to take a mild soap which isn't aggressive, for example I use https://mildsoaps.com when I wash my watch. This soap cleans perfectly. I moisten and soap a lint-free cloth and use this product to gently wash everything. With conventional silicone straps it`s very simple. If the bracelet is metal, then additionally wipe with alcohol or special wipes.
