Edit treadmill calibration in VA3

Is there a way to re-enter the distance ran on the treadmill because the calibration value was entered wrong. I tried to correct the entry during calibration but it saved it anyway :( The value I entered was insanely high and it screwing up my stats!

I can edit the distance for this activity in Garmin Connect but not in the watch.

This question has been asked and answered several times in this forum, if I understand correctly. The linked post contains the following:

I hope this answers your question. Re-calibrating in this way lets you set the treadmill distance you just ran without having to do it in the Garmin Connect app. It should also make your future treadmill runs more accurate.

No, that was not what I meant. I meant editing if you had entered a value incorrectly during calibration and it had saved your activity.
  • I have been looking for a solution to the problem described by Allen93 as well.

The other day while 're-calibrating' my treadmill, i incorrectly entered a distance of 65.00km instead of 6.50km. I could not find a way to correct or edit this value on the watch. I soon discovered I could edit the workout with Garmin Connect after syncing . I then edited the distance value and changed it to 6.50km. Problem solved? Not quite. Garmin Connect now carries the correct distances for this run. However, the watch still records the distance for this run as 65.00km even though it has synced many times with Garmin Connect since I corrected the distance on Garmin Connect. It appears Garmin Connect synchronization is 1-way, not 2-way. Perhaps 2-way synchronization would correct his problem.

  • The only way to undo fat fingering an incorrect TM calibration (I accidentally entered the time of 58:46 instead of 6 miles) is to do a "Restore Defaults" on the watch. Unfortunately you have to re-pair and setup the watch afterward. The alternative would be to do several TM runs of at least 1mi (or 1k if using metric) and recalibrate after each. After my bad calibration I was getting a pace of 1 min/mi which was rather funny actually. Maybe there should be a reality check built into the calibration routine.

If the activity has already been transferred to Connect you can delete the activity from the watch without it affecting the saved activity in your Garmin account by long pressing the screen then selecting History>Activities then scrolling to the activity selecting it and scrolling down to select Delete.

If you want to get rid of the longest run record on the watch you can long press the screen go to My Stats>Records>Running scroll to the longest run record, select it, and select delete.

I realize this thread is rather old. However, I am a new Garmin owner. I have the Vivoactive 3 Music and was trying to calibrate the treadmill. First, brian.savage, I believe there is a way to delete an activity on your watch. I was able to delete one on mine.

And, secondly, for anyone trying to calibrate the treadmill, the key is that you have to go at least 1 mile (according to your watch’s distance) before the elioses will appear. I kept reading that “you press the 3 dots”. But, I never saw any dots. Then, finally the garmin support pointed me in the right direction.

What was the solution to correcting the distance on the device?

    • Please share how you fixed this. I have been on the treadmill multiple times over a mile trying to recalibrate and I NEVER get the 3 dots all the sites are talking about. I have lost multiple runs bc of this..
  • Marty do you start the treadmill activity option in your watch first? A few seconds after you stop the activity it should appear on your Garmin Connect app. Once you click on that activity the three vertical dots should appear in the upper right corner

Are you using the Garmin Connect app while you're using the watch on the treadmill at the same time?

  • The 3 dots are on the watch face when you stop the treadmill activity on the watch. You have the green section on top of the display to save the activity or 3 dots in the red section at the bottom which leads you to the calibration and discarding features.
