Running Dynamics Pod with VA3 - Any News?

Hi,
I am new to Garmin and do some run on a treadmill (and can't calibrate on the current FW 2.70)
I do know that the VA3 is not a Fenix, nor a forerunner...but:
I am thinking about getting a Foot Pod and noticed that the Running Dynamics Pod provides more data for a similar price...
As this is an ANT Sensor, will it work with the VA3 (even if the VA3 doesn't display the data on the watch, but on GCM?)

Any news. update on this (DC Rainmaker had a review on this back in March 2017).
Any News?
  • The RD pod isn't compatible with the va3. I'd just get a foot pod. Even if you could pair the RD pod as a footpod (I don't know if that's possible), you wouldn't get any additional data on the watch or in Garmin Connect. Watches that support the RD pod have a specific sensor type for it.
  • The RD Pod, only gives Running Dynamics and can not be used as a footpod, They are totally different things. As Jim states I don't believe Running Dynamics are supported on the VA3

I checked on this a few weeks ago with Garmin and they have no intention of making the RD Pod compatible with the VA3... :(
  • Well the good news is that there is now an ANT+ standard for running dynamic that any 3rd party who wants to can make available to any ANT+ capable device.

e.g. Wahoo could update the firmware and create a CIQ app for their Tckr X HR strap and you would be able to get running dynamics on the VA3 with that strap.

How soon that might happen is another question although, for what it's worth, DCRainmaker says he's been told Q1 2018.
  • There's a new RD ANT+ profile available in Connect IQ 2.4.x, but it's not available on the va3 (probably because the va3 doesn't support the RD pod). I'm guessing that's what's used in RunPower (which again, isn't available on the va3)
