Swim tracking - COUNT of laps/lengths

I have purchased a vivoactive 3, and swimming is one of my top activities.

1) Is the any way to view the _number_ of lengths (or laps) swum? NOT the distance (since this is broken - see below), but the actual number of lengths? preferably I expect to see the # of lengths on the watch, but if not, at least in the app?

The # of lengths seems to be detected correctly, but the only display that I have been able to find is the # of lengths x the size of the pool. Is there a way to display a count of the # of lengths using the Garmin app(s)?

If not, is there an alternate app which displays this key piece of information? Thanks in advance for any pointers!

2) The pool length entry screen will not allow entry of 10 meters / 33 feet (the size of my pool at home). This is an unnecessary restriction - the watch does detect change of direction / lengths very well, even in a modest sized pool. Please Garmin, remove this unnecessary restriction! and allow the watch to accept 10 meters / 33 feet as a pool length. Thanks for listening (??)
  • I am not positive on the VA3, but on other Garmin watches, you can add/edit data pages and fields, and one is lengths. I completely agree on the pointless restriction on the pool size setting.

Right, I was thinking / wondering about that. I guess I have a reason to figure out how to do that :-). Any pointers to instructions would be welcome. (Sorry for the delay in responding, I missed your post originally)

Hmmm.... the more I explore, the more this product is looking like a 1st gen prototype that was rushed to market (or intentionally feature limited??), rather than a 3rd gen or later finished product from an leading in the fitness/activity tracker field...

The latest example - it appears (based on early reviews) that Garmin’s HRM-SWIM strap isn’t compatible with the Vivoactive 3 for loading HR data. What?? That's pretty disappointing coming from Garmin, with its history of swim tracker technology.

I had hoped for a mature all around decent looking/size digital watch/activity tracker/fitness watch. It's looking like this watch is not that. This one may have to go back as it just doesn't seem to be fully 'baked' yet. I guess I'll have to return this one and get a dedicated swim or triathlon watch as this one just doesn't seem to be ready for prime time (for my needs). That's a real shame as it looks decent, and I had higher hopes/expectations.
