Quit recording heartrate

Just happened last night. I know it was taking readings as I looked at it but it did not store any data after 836pm. Checked settings. HR monitor was on. Did soft reset (on and off). Just logging to see if anyone else had this issue and to update if needed. This is a new one for me. Seems to be working now.

..and the vibration intensity just dropped on the new watch even though the setting is on high. Can't deal with it now. Out all day. Guess I have to figure out how to do the full blown reset and see if that works.

I'm not sure if this is what happened to you, but a day or two after installing 2.70 I synced my watch with GCM and I had no HR data from around 9PM until the following morning. My 4hr HR graph was showing my HR, but when I went to check my all day heart rate I was getting some message about wearing my watch throughout the night to obtain readings. I was wearing my watch and I tried syncing over and over, but I got the same message. As soon as I hit edit in the sleep tap all my data appeared. I don't know why it happened and it's never happened since.
  • Well the data since I posted here appears to be good though it auto recorded some walking when auto activity start was turned off (but activity tracking was on) but it did not do the GPS so maybe that is normal

I have a new anomaly when I go to charge my watch that the charge screen does not update with current time and charge level but the level and time when I plugged it in so I have to guess how long to charge it.

[I actually quit using GCM because of the the long periods where it was not recording HR data properly ]but did go back into GCM to edit the sleep data (did not see how to do that in windows) to see if it repopulated the HR but it did not.
  • Watch is showing that it is collecting heart rate data but last 4 hours is blank and there is ZERO data since 6am on either the watch are on Garmin Connect. Is it REALLY too much to expect a $250 device to work? LOL it does show one reading at 255. I think I would KNOW if my heart was racing at 255 BPM particularly since the data is showing up in the 60s

If you go into settings, system, about and then SW versions, what does it show under WHR version? I remember this happening to a few people with their FR235's.

  • I really want to like this device but ........
I am not using ANY of the bells and whistles here. No music, no notifications, no external sensors.......no 3rd party aps or data fields other than the No Frills watch face.

    It has WHR 20.03.24

But more significantly [and I have ejected this thing properly each and every use] ...........

    I reset to factory settings
    I uninstalled and reinstalled GCM
I removed all other bluetooth devices from my phone

Then Garmin Express will not sync with it. It won't even find the device and windows would not recognize the watch.
When it does connect to windows it is as USB GPS device even those setting is mass storage. After two (not one) reset cycles I get it back and ........ but time will tell..............
I have had one other experience with a car GPS where I think GE blipped out on me during an activity [I have a very stable internet connection] and corrupted my files. Like I said I am fastidious with ejecting.

During this whole mess it has GPS version 0.00 now it has 4.3

I did reinstall the No Frills watch fact and don't have it updating heart rate [because it is not real time and I can scroll to it quickly]

Interesting GPS version was 0.00. That is what I was expecting with the WHR sensor version. I still expect a corrupt file of some sort and that would all explain why your computer doesn't recognize it. Odd that it comes and goes though. It's also possible the data cord is going bad. Unfortunately, I believe Garmin Support is closed on Sunday and I'm going to be no help to you.
  • I somehow think it has to do more with the watch because a few resets solved the problem (for now). I have never had problems with data cords (like USB and serial cords though......)
I did have some data fields (2), one for Elevation Data and one for Dog Location (ANT+ communication with Garmin Astro) that I removed by clearing the system but both had been there several days before the issues................
