VO2 max stopped being updated

VO2 max stopped being updated on pie graph on the connect app and mobile app.
First few weeks VO2 max was updating properly on the graph (immediately after the walk) and pie graph below. But from 18/11 it is being updated only on graph. On pie it stays same from 18/11 and not updated any more. Checked on web app and it is same.
Anybody else has VO2 max stuck on pie graph? (attached screenshot from mobile app) ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1281809.png
  • Vo2Max will be calculated regardless of where the HR information comes from.

If it's not changing it could be a matter of not having your MaxHR set properly so the watch either thinks you're working too hard or not hard enough.
  • VO2MAX is calculated - on the graph. But not updated on pie graph below.
  • Today after almost 1 month of last update, the pie graph updated. Now pie graph and graph show same VO2max
  • Got a new update on Sunday! Immediately after a run. Seems to work as intended, now.
Yesterday (Monday) I was running again and it also was updated. With the same value, but that should not matter.

What has to be mentioned: My resting pulse was now working quite good. It didn't in the past and always showed 4-20bpm. With a strap it was between 40-60 (Due to intensity of a run). Maybe it is related.
  • I dont know,my VA3 says 49 which i know is wrong as i was at 39 when i had Fenix 3 HR before. I also know that the VO2 max only updates when there is an actual change in the value, which may not happen for weeks. i only done one outdoor run with VA3 so far and it updated to 49 (again thats nonsense) and it doesnt update on my treadmill runs, which i do often with HR strap on.
  • It will never update Vo2Max after a treadmill run. It will only be computed for runs done with GPS since a known good pace source is required for the formula.

Now people certainly have their own opinions about Garmin watches GPS accuracy but it's easier to ensure a good pace with it relative to treadmill pace coming from the wrist sensors or an uncalibrated footpod.

I understand, that outside run is needed for this device, but no idea why, the treadmill gives you clear indication of distance/pace and wearing HR strap should be enough to calculate VO2 max,as real tests are actually done on treadmill in the lab with oxygen mask on as well. make no sense why cant be done....
  • A proper Vo2Max test is done on a treadmill but its a direct measurement test where you're wearing a mask that evaluates the actual gasses that you're expelling and the TM is just a means to get you working hard. While the Garmin, and other non-direct measurement, Vo2Max estimates are just that, estimates, and in order to control as many factors as possible they require GPS pace since TM pace can be affected by calibration of foot pods, watch accelerometers, and the TM itself.
  • cant be running outside in this cold, so i guess i have to wait till spring to see my updated VO2 max ha!

Most probably due to no possibility to evaluate the "hill climb degree". On this will depend how much power you use. Most probably vo2max could he evaluated only in case treadmill would be used just flat horizontal.
