Random vibrating...

Has anyone any ideas as to why the watch has started to randomly vibrate? This has only started since the last charge. I can only think it's to do with auto activity? Which doesn't work anyway and is set on mine to 10 minutes. Turning it off seems to stop this but why would it just vibrate at random?
Oh well another feature that doesn't work....not really enjoying being a beta tester on a £300 product.
  • Possibly your phone is disconnecting & reconnecting?

Try disabling the phone connection alerts.
  • Hi thanks for the reply, I've already deactivated that feature so its not that. And it's started doing it again this evening!
  • And when your watch vibrates you don't get any notifications of any kind on the screen? I haven't seen anyone else with that issue. I would try a hard reset where you hold the side button for 15 seconds. If that doesn't work call support. I had to call them yesterday and they are very helpful, friendly, and the guy seemed to genuinely want to get my watch working right again.
  • HI, I have tried a hard reset a number of times and no there are no notifications, it just vibrates and the back light goes on for a few seconds.
I agree Garmin are helpful if very slow, I've already agreed to them accessing my account after them checking files I sent them not reaching any conclusion on other issues.
Teething problems I guess but they need some updates on a fair few issues. Cheers for the input.

I was having this same issue yesterday. It seemed it was doing it for the sake of doing it.

checked through various app setting as well as connect setting to see which was it was not set for notifications.

each time it vibrated, I would quickly look at the watch but as the original poster said, there was nothing there.

I did remove a couple of IQ watch faces that run with data. As of this morning, there hasn't been any vibrations off of the unit, so far.

Watch unit isn' even 7 days old yet.

Did the usual reset, factory reset etc.

I will up date on here if it happens again.
  • Hi Bonzo, just to say I removed IQ watch faces as they were draining my battery down, I'm not sure they were the issue for the 1% every ten minutes or so as I've had to hard reset a few times since to correct this but the vibrating was happening after IQ watches were uninstalled. It's not doing it today...but as I mentioned somewhere else I deactivated auto activity (which doesn't work anyway) so maybe it was that? Perhaps check your settings and see if you have it switched on.

Yeah I think auto activity is switched on, so I will try deactivating that.

I did notice yesterday though that "live track failed" was popping up every so often. My Edge 520 is set up as the unit linked to live track. Pass as in why the VA3 is pushing out the failure notification.

And my VA3 just vibrated as I stood up and took two steps, but still no on screen notification.
  • Let me know if it stops after you turn it off - if it does for you too we may have found the problem. I can then let Garmin know about this too as they are currently (slowly) investigating my other issues...

Chris, it cerainly has stopped vibrating after switching the "auto activity tracking" off. I switched it back on to double check myself & there it was, vibrating away to itself for whatever the reason, bug or glitch in the system, firmware.

I have just sent a report into Garmin Support about the issue and directed them to this thread. The more who report it the better.
  • Ah nice one Bonzo. Did the auto activity ever work for you though? I set mine at 10 minutes for walking and all it ever did was record MoveIQ in the calendar and none of the activity data. I found it useful on a Fitbit I had a while back-sometimes a short walk turns into a long one!
Also have you noticed the walk and cycle widgets (I dont run so removed that one) dont total the weeks activity correctly - apparently I've cycled 26,666 miles this week!
Hopefully all these bugs will be sorted at an update very soon!
Thanks for confirming you had the same on the auto activity.
