I have had my vivoactive 3 for a week now and have used it for a number of activities. I only have 65 intensity minutes registered. The last week I went on four bike rides that totaled over six hours with an average heart rate during these rides at over 135bpm. It seems to me that during an activity not a lot of other stuff registers. It's snowy where I am and my typical rides involve a little bit of pushing my bike up snowy hills but no steps are registering for the rides either. Anyone else have this problem?
Intensity minutes are based upon your heart rate being above a certain level and will be given regardless of if your in an activity or not (I get intensity minutes for bike rides). Make sure you are running the most recent firmware and your personal settings are up to date. Also, do a hard reset.
If that doesn't fix the problem, I would suspect your device is defective.
FYI - I'm not sure but, when you are in an activity I would think steps wouldn't be counted.
On the step front I've just come from years of using Fitbit's and they measure steps during any sort of activity which I think is correct.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1276495.png
I had the same issue when I did a bike ride where I didn't get intensity minutes. I have since reset the device and now seem to get intensity minutes just walking to the mailbox. I had 186 intensity minutes last week even though i lost two days worth of data, didn't hit my step goal 4 of the days (and my goal is low) and didn't hit the gym once. It has been cold here so haven't taken the bike out since the reset (and not looking forward to re-pairing the sensors, been hoping for a firmware update to fix that).
My experience since mid September with the VVA3, Intensity minutes seem to be pretty generous. This past week I ran 53 miles and walked the dog probabl12-14 miles. My Intensity minutes were 1,183. All the running was pretty easy pace, at 74, just running is a gift, regardless of pace. Dog walks are very slow. Yikes! 150 IM a week seems pretty low, no wonder obesity rules here in the US:)
Last week I recorded 680 Intensity minutes. Today I rode 20 miles and it recorded none. Also, Garmin Connect says I have 3400 steps, but the VA3 says 143, which is ridiculous as I've been up and moving for 16 hours now. Maybe I need a hard reset as well. It's been working fine up until today. Everything on the VA3 is way off today, though.
I regularly get intensity minutes while doing almost nothing but never seem to get them while working out. It is almost as if being in an activity prevents it from recording them. Really hoping the next firmware fixes some of these issues.
Can you please tell me what actually constitutes vigorous and moderate intensity? It looks like I only get credit for time in zones 4 and 5 but I would consider zone 3 to be moderate/aerobic. I am getting credit for the other two zones. Is there a list of the secret algorithms they use somewhere to come up with these calculations?
