Cadense Sensor

I paired my Garmin Cadence Sensor to the VA3 (made sure it was connected). Started the bike activity and it shows searching for the cadence sensor. I return to setting and the it also show searching for the sensor.

I've done this several times, removed the sensor and added it back with no luck.

Is this a known issue or am i doing something wrong.

    Hi from Sweden

I can not see the cadence on my Watch when riding my bike, I do se the cadence after the ride on my phone garmin connect but want to se the cadence when I am riding. I have Garmin cadence and speed sensor, I can se the speed during my ride but no cadence on the Watch, is it possible to se during the ride?
  • I have both cadence and speed working using 3rd party brand. No issue so far

    Hi from Sweden

I can not see the cadence on my Watch when riding my bike Indoors on my Indoor trainer and I use Garmin Indoor bike app that are in the Watch as default, I do se the cadence after the ride on my phone garmin connect but want to se the cadence when I am riding with my bike indoors. I have Garmin cadence and speed sensor, I can se the speed during my ride but no cadence on the Watch, is it possible to se during the ride? I have not tested it outdoor yet but want to se my cadence Indoor. I se no data field for cadence in the Watch on garmin default Indoor bike app.
  • Curious if the new 2.70 firmware includes a fix for this? I noticed the sensor version was also updated to 5.50 from 5.20. When I open the bike activity, my speed sensor does seem to auto connect; whereas, I believe I had to manually connect it before on 2.60 (where it eventually disconnected on its own). Maybe Garmin Joey or Blake can chime in?

A fix for the Speed and Cadence sensors not pairing was included in the 2.70 update.

Does that include other ANT+ sensors such as the footpod?

Why wasn't that listed in the change log?

Anything else not listed in the change log we should be testing or hopeful might be fixed?

Not sure why it wasn't listed in the latest draft of the change log. I'll see if we can get it added.

I'm not sure if there would be any expected changes regarding the Foot Pod. Are you experiencing a specific issue?

To my knowledge, other than the cadence issue, everything else is listed.
  • I have experienced the difficulty pairing with my speed, cadence, and foodpod sensors (only three ANT+ devices I have) and instability with them randomly telling me they are connected during the activity. I have commented about the footpod in separate threads in the forums.

We updated the change log and added a note. Device team noted that "Improved ANT sensor pairing". I would recommend testing the Foot Pod and post back if you are still having issues.

  • Will do so soon as my device updates. My try to force it this evening when I am near the cable. We are expecting snow tomorrow so I don't know about testing the bike on an actual ride but should be able to hit the treadmill for the footpod.
