WatchFace's cause problem with DataFields

When installing a custom WatchFace and two custom DataFields, then one of the DataFields only shows an icon+technical name during the running activity.
Anyone else have this problem?

Steps to reproduce on VivoActive 3:
- Configure Data Fields with 3-field-layout.
- Install Watch Face "Sport Master (by Garmin)" and activate it.
- Install Data Field "Visual HR Zones (by Garmin)" add to screen 1.
- Install Data Field "Graphical Elevation (by Garmin)" and add to screen 2.
- Start the "Run" activity.

What happens:
One of the two custom data fields shows an icon and the technical name of the datafield.

What I expected:
Both of the two custom data fields show their correct values.

And something else: When I right swipe during a running activity the WatchFace is shown, but not the one I installed. It shows a default watchface. Also strange.

I've restarted the watch (power off, power on). Running on SW 2.50 (problem was also in 2.40). It doesn't seem to matter which WhatchFace or DataField I use, the problem is always there.

Kind regards,
Ernie

  • Is it always the data field on screen 2 that doesn't display correctly or is it the Graphical Elevation field no matter which screen it's on? If it's the former it sounds like a bug in the watch firmware and you should report it to support, if it's the later it's probably a bug in the data field and you should report it on the developer page for it.

The watch face issue is interesting because I use the Garmin Titainium watch face and that's what I see if I swipe right during an activity.

In a native app (run for example), the right swipe goes to the widget loop. (starting with the watchface). If you have a CIQ watch face, and 1 or 2 CIQ DF's, you'll see a native WF when you do this, IIRC. It's due to the total memory available to CIQ during a native app. It's that way on a f5 too, for example.

I'm unclear what's meant by the "technical name" of the DF. the "IQ!" screen?

Might be a firmware bug. Anyone else experiencing this bug? (Seems like a common config to have a custom watchface and some custom dataFields...)
