Significant battery drain after 2.50 update

I updated my VA3 to version 2.50 yesterday and now the battery is draining significantly faster than before.

With version 2.40 after 24 hours the battery would be at around 87%.

Now, after updating to 2.50, the battery is at 75% after 12 hours.

Anyone else experiencing this also?

I've submitted a ticket to Garmin ... but I really don't have high hopes of getting a response. The past two tickets I submitted were pretty much ignored.

<sigh/>

  • Hard reseted (again), FW 2.5. stock watch face, no bluetooth. Lost 20% in 3 hours.
  • Hard reset seems to have fixed it for me. Down 8% in 12 hours. Not perfect but much better.

Hmm. My VAHR does 24hrs for 9-10%.

Think I might hold off a little while before re-ording the VA3 (first one had to be returned).
  • I think the hard restart did the trick ... 8 hours in and at 96%. That's acceptable.

I was having the same issue and almost returned it. 40-50% in 12 hours. After a soft reset (holding in button for 15 secs) it resolved the issue.

I experienced some decent battery drain as well; 78% at time of install and then the next morning (9hrs later) I was at 35%.

Since recharging and powering the watch off and back on, it seems to be doing fine.
  • I'm having the same problem - down to 13% in 1 day with standard watchface, no activity tracking and backlight set to 20% with gesture disabled after the 2.50 update. I'll try the full power down and report back - thanks for the tip. Other than this, I'm loving the watch much more than my Vivoactive HR. Only other downside is the crazy screen scrolling when in the shower!
  • If you're going to wear the watch in the shower lock the screen first. Hold the side button down until the controls screen comes up and then tap the icon that looks like a lock. The first time I wore mine in the shower the water somehow activated the find my phone app.
  • Hi,

For me same issue since 2.40 firmware (updated through Carmin Connect from iphone), then also present using 2.50 firmware (updating through Garmin Express from PC).
I have many friends with forerunner 235 without this sort of issue.

I lost 50% of battery after 12hours. I have to charge it every day, i was thinking it is a Garmin wearable not an Android or Apple watch !

I try to disable GPS, reduce brightness to 10% and disable unused apps or other features without success. also try to reboot...

I'm very disapointed it is not acceptable regarding how much does it cost.

    Bye,
