Alert/Alarm Vibration Strength Question

Hi,

I am relatively new to this forum. I have seen a few comments regarding the Alert/Alarm Vibration strength. Is the strength at least as strong as the VA-HR? Is this an issue that just some users are seeing or a limitation of the HW? Truth be told, I was disappointed when coming from the Charge HR to the VA-HR in the alarm strength. However the VA-HR was strong enough to wake me/get my attention and the rest of the HW/features were superior so I kept it...

Also Part of the other reasons I am looking at this watch, besides the looks, is the ability to download workouts... Where in the forums would be the appropriate place to ask strength training workout setup questions?

Thanks!

To answer your question about the vibration, I'm not sure if people are having issues with their device, or if it's personal preference. I have mine set to high and have no issues with it at all.
  • I upgraded from a VAHR to the VA3 and, IMO, the VA3 alarm vibration intensity is MUCH lower than the VAHR.

The vibration is definitely not as strong as my VA-HR was.
  • Not sure about difference between HR and V3, but it is NOT a personal preference. I swapped my V3 I got for a new one after barely feeling the vibration. My new one is much better (still not as strong as V1). Based on the number of complaints I think they definitely have some defective units out there.
  • Can only compare to my Vivosmart HR+...the VA3 is much weaker. IMO, on the high setting, it is not strong enough. It isn't strong enough to reliably wake me like the Vivosmart HR+ was.

That was one of my big complaints about the Vivoactive HR .. the very very weak vibration. I sure cannot feel the vibration on my device, and I do agree that there are likely a number of defective units out there. If the VA3 is worse .. that is a bad thing.
  • Thanks for the responses everyone! Sounds like this is one of those things I'll just have to try when I get it... Not that it would be a total deal breaker... It'll definitely be a determining factor As I tell all of my friends, when getting up at 4 a.m. to walk/run before work, this silent alarm alone was worth $250 not to wake up my wife. :)
  • my vivoactive had the same problem at first.Garmin fixed it. the VA3 is very new and in limited distribution. The next upgrade should fix the problem

Just got my VA3. The vibration alert is much weaker than the VAHR. The alarm also lasts longer on the VAHR.

Very unscientific, but here's 2 vids of the vibrate alarms. Obviously the VAHR has a higher pitched so you can hear it more, and the VA3 can be felt but there is very little audio element to the vibrate tone.

  • jmaok,

Thanks for the videos... Don't know if I can tell much from those though... My Charge HR was pretty quiet (almost in audible). But the vibration frequency was lower, so it was more noticeable. In fact the first time I used it, I jumped out of my bed because it scared me awake... LOL! So this would be one of the first things I'll have to try if I upgrade....
