Screen Protectors for the VivoActive 3

Two questions...

Does the VivoActive 3 need a screen protector?
And if so, what's a comparable size? Not seeing any listed for the VA3 but is any of the other Garmin watches the same size?

there are now a bunch of tempered glass protectors available, at least on eBay :)
  • Fenix 5 screen protectors are too big.

Just got my VA3 and tried on (without peeling off) the Fenix 5 glass protector I had bought from AliExpress. Yup, it's slightly too big. I had hoped that as the screen should be the same size as a Fenix 5 and as often the glass protectors are slightly too small, that it would fit. Oh well, I guess I'll quickly order a VA3-specific one (which are now available) and wait for it before I start using the watch. I don't mind waiting as hopefully Garmin has released a better FW by the time I get the screen protector.

Good thing about those AliExpress screen protectors is that while they do take their sweet time to get to my location, at least they cost so little (1-3 dollars) that mistakes like this don't matter that much.

I ordered this 2-pack of Wimaha VA3 screen protectors from Amazon and installed it a few days ago. Installation was painless, it fits well, and I don't even notice it. The protector sticks out a very little bit above the ring of the phone. Recommended.

I was going to try a forerunner protector. I didn't realise the ones mentioned above were glass. Probably a better bet.

    ??????
  • Anyone can recommend a screen protector that would resist swimming and water immersion (Shower etc) ???
The idea is not to have a new screen protector every time I am back from the pool!

I contacted Protectionfilms24 and sadly they don't recommend any of their protector for swimming activities...

Any share of experience on this?
  • I have the fenix 5 glass protectors (3) pieces and silicone dust plugs that fit the vivoactive for sale. Just pay shipping and there yours. The dust plugs come in a 10 pack and I only needed 3 so 7 are left.

I got tempered glass screen protector for my vivoactive 3 on Amazon.
  • I received and applied the Brotect Airglass VA3 screen protector yesterday...
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1

    - It fit perfectly on the entire screen with virtually no gap between the watch screen and the surrounding stainless steel ring. Cut to precision.
    - very clear, can't see any difference of screen clarity with or without it, no loss of clarity or visibility on the screen.
    - no difference on touch responsiveness, as good as without the screen protector

    - Application: super easy, no bubble, no dust etc (clean the screen before application). The screen protector is "semi-rigid", similar to tempered glass
    1) peel of half of the film and put delicately on the watch surface, not applying any pressure. Ensure you don't touch the "glue side" of the screen protector.
    2) using the corner of the remaining of the screen protector film, align it perfectly with the screen edges
    3) apply some pressure to glue it to the surface of the watch, going from 1 side to the other (all the air below this "semi-rigid" protector will get out, in the same way as it does when applying a pure tempered glass protector, resulting with no air bubble).

    - Waterproofing: Showered twice with it, putting the watch under water etc... still stick, no change at all. Seems to be waterproof so far !

See picture below (and yes, the screen protector is on it! )

Highly recommended. I will update this in a few weeks time but seems to be of very good quality and fits perfectly the VA3.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1275035.jpg
  • Thanks, I'll try it.
But, what about a silicone bumper? I'd like to protect the whole frame. While doing sport it's easy to bump it here and there. For fenix 5s it's available...
