Venu Won't charge

My venu has stopped charging.  No charging indicator when plugged in.

  I've done the following ...

*cleaned charging port with dry toothbrush

*cleaned charging port with alcohol

*attempted to use garmin express to update software (no luck, watch is fully dead)

*battery was holding charge for 3+ days before the issue

*the charging port doesn't appear to be lose or defective in any way.

*charging cable/outlet is not the issue as other garmin watches charge using same cable

I have an RMA with garmin, but before I consider paying $160 for a trade-in, looking for solutions I might have overlooked.  The unit is (of course) out of warranty.

  • My Venu has also stopped charging - just a blank screen.  It had been holding charge for at least 5 days before.  I'm very disappointed as it is only 2.5 years old and I would expect it to last longer than this, and considering whether it is worth buying garmin again.  Had no response when I tried to contact helpdesk.

  • Mine is about the same age.. curious, did you get a software update just prior to the your last attempt at charging.

  • Now you mention it, yes - the software updated a few days earlier.  I can't remember the version though.  How can we get Garmin to respond to this and see if it an issue?

  • I hope that someone will see it on Tuesday  and respond.  Yhx for responding so quickly

  • Just to say that Garmin Europe did get in touch with me regarding my email to them about this, and sent me a new charging cable to try.  No mention of software update issue. The new cable did charge, the the watch only held the charge for a few hours, did not count my steps, heart rate, etc and said "internal wifi error" when attempting to play music.  As my watch is out of warranty, they have offered me a re-certified replacement for £139, but this only has 90 days warranty, I believe.  Am very disappointed the watch did not last much beyond it's two-year warranty, and wondering whether to stick with Garmin or try another make such as a Galaxy watch4....
