Does anyone else's charging port have a loose connection when they plug in their Garmin Venu?

Is anyone else's battery port messed up where the connection is not made when they plug in their Garmin Venu to be charged? The port feels loose and it's impossible for the charging cable to keep a connection with the port/watch long enough to actually charge the battery. How can this be fixed? I see it says there is a warranty (I believe of only 1 year for Garmin products in the U.S.(?)) and *of course* it has been just over a year since I purchased my watch. This is clearly a major defect though, and I have barely used my watch in the time that I have had it, so there is no reason this should happen from normal charging over time.

  • In short, no - I'm not having this issue with my (still relatively new) Venu. Still, I'm extremely careful about creating a perpendicular angle when plugging/unplugging my charging port in hopes of avoiding mechanical strain on the seating of the internal connector.

I'm sorry to hear that your loose connection has been discovered outside of your warranty period. Still, I'd recommend contacting Garmin to see how strict they are on timelines ... reports around here suggest their customer service can pleasantly surprise folks sometimes.

  • No.  Mine fits very snug.  You might just need a new charging cable.  I’d contact Garmin.  Support.garmin.com and start a chat.

  • I have the same problem,I have to change my charging cord every 40days ,not sure what the problem is.

  •  have you tried cleaning your charging port on the back of the watch with rubbing alcohol? That's odd you have to keep changing your charging cord. Check for any corrosion or discoloration as well.

  • Yes I cleaned with rubbing alcohol.

Does garmin or anyone else sell a wireless charger for this watch???

As soon as a change the cord the watch charges again.

I replaced my power bar as well

I'm getting tired of buying new charging cords

  • I don't want you to have to keep buying charging cords! That's definitely not normal. May I have permission to send you an email?

I'm also not sure if any third parties sell wireless chargers, but we do not.

  • Yes, with my cheap Chinese clone cable I have those issues, but with the original cable it's working fine.

    1. I have fixed this problem by using a small pliers to bend the edges of the port in the middle where is no plastic. Be careful when you do it! Use just a little bit of force and make sure you don't bend edges too much inside!
  • I also have this issue with my Venu Sq - ever since the first week or two of owning it. The cable and socket don't have a firm connection. I've found that it can prevent charging/data transfer and needs to be delicately placed on a surface without any further movement to avoid disconnection. I just put it down to bad product design (again).
